Sharif, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission, has urged citizens to help combat corruption. He also touched on the importance of increasing public awareness about the methods of corruption and its dangerous consequences and impact on society. He made the remark on the occasion of the World Anti-Corruption Day which will be observed worldwide Friday. Citizens should realize their important role in consolidating the principles and values of honesty and transparency, he said. Al-Sharif said the organizational structure of the Anti-Corruption Commission stresses the importance of encouraging citizens and residents to work hand-in-hand with it to confront this menace. The 2011 International Anti-Corruption Day will be celebrated under the global theme: “Act Against Corruption Today,” with the slogan “Corruption, Your No Counts.” On this day, anti-corruption advocates organize events to engage the general public to effectively fight against corruption and fraud in communities.
