FRCS intimidated D'Mountaineers with their Class C and D handicaps to score a lopsided win that made Rudy Carillo, Sol Cuenca, Fred Cuenca and Carmen Lim the first champions of this Filipino Expatriate Damayan Group brand new Friday PM league at the Bowling City here. Pre-assessing the championship by the teams' lineup, D'Mountaineers held an advantage through team captain Joel Nidoy and Ding dela Rosa — both top caliber bowlers — plus team manager Rudy Jamon and Malou Nidoy. But the assessment changed as soon as the first set started and FRCS won game 1 677-636 on distributed games of Carillo, Cuenca brothers and Lim. The Mountaineers tried to break through on game 2, but FRCS counter-bowled massively for better production of 730 compared to former's 647 for 2-game total of 1,407-1,283 at decisive gap of 190 including handicap into the ultimate game. With the title almost decided, FRCS did not loosen its fortress but kept responding to all possible rallies of Mountaineers to the last minute. It walloped Mountaineers on final tallies of 2,179-1,962 including routing endgame of 772-679. Team captain Carillo, who scored 508, thanked Lim for contributing 567 and the Cuenca brothers, who combined for 1,104, for helping them realize their goal on this first conference of Encuentro de Quattro. Mountaineers embraced the first runner-up spot. The team comprised Albert Abug as co-team manager, Edris Mangoda and Alma Baylon. Other teams that joined the tournament are Lance & 3rdy of Ric Reformado, JAMM of Jerry Carredo, Triple R of Ruel Santoc, Irritado of Jun Estefano, Ball Care of Pip R. Planas, Toto TM of Toto Lim, Fedz Express of Fedelyn Bustinera Eminent Bowlers of May Lourdes, Huling Hirit of Bobby Baraquel and LaShir of Jeruin Heredia and Shirley Sagmit.
