Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Defense, received Saturday Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Aal Al-Sheikh, Speaker of the Shoura Council, and council members who came to greet and congratulate Prince Salman on his appointment as the Defense Minister. Addressing the meeting, Prince Salman said that the Shoura Council gives real opinions and simultaneously serves the religion, nation and people. Prince Salman said Saudi Arabia was established on Islamic principles and united all people through its adherence to the Qur'an and Sunnah, noting that the nation derives its regulations and the basic system of governance from the Qur'an and Sunnah. “We, as officials, accept opinions and what comes from you. You are in a country where our doors, from the King to the lowest-ranking officials, are open. This habit has been deep-rooted in the Kingdom and we are proud of it,” the Defense Minister said. In his speech, Aal Al-Sheikh congratulated Prince Salman and wished him success in the service of his religion and homeland. He commended Prince Salman's wisdom, wide experience and insight in dealing with various issues. The meeting was also attended by Prince Khalid Bin Sultan, Deputy Minister of Defense.
