Fifteen Saher system's employees have resigned in the wake of the killing of a staff member in a shooting incident two weeks ago. The employees decided to take the extreme action after the Saher System management allegedly refused to address their security concerns. An inside source told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that 20 new employees were being trained to operate the Saher System monitoring devices. With the resignation of the 15, now only five employees remain which shows the concern regarding the work environment. The company recently increased salaries of the staff to SR6,000. However, the source said, this didn't convince the terrified workers to stay on. “Financial incentives did not succeed in convincing the employees to remain in their jobs, despite their wages being higher than that paid to their former colleagues,” the source said. He indicated that four other Saher employees walked out two weeks ago after sustaining injuries at work. Thirteen shooting incidents against Saher employees were reported, the last of which was in the Eastern Province two days ago, the source said. Despite the attacks, the company has rejected workers' demands to provide armor plating to their vehicles. The source said the demand that insurance companies meet their medical needs was also rejected. An employee also claimed that the company refused to install a black box device “that would uncover the nature of the attack if our lives are endangered.” __
