Qatif does not reflect the point of view of the people of that region who have been loyal to this country and its leadership since the unification of the Kingdom by King Abdul Aziz. The people of Al-Qatif have always been keen to safeguard the security and stability of this country and to preserve its interests. They are very much aware that their security depends on the security of the country and that the security of the country depends on their security. They realize that the future of their children is linked to the future of the country. The close historical relations that people of that region enjoy with citizens in all parts of the Kingdom will never be harmed or affected by instigators, agitators or collaborators. What happened in Al-Qatif and Al-Awamiya are individual incidents instigated by those from outside the Kingdom who hate this country and who have been exploiting some citizens whose sense of belonging to this country is weak. The Grand Mufti of the Kingdom Sheikh Abdul Aziz Aal Al-Sheikh said that those who have caused disorder in Al-Qatif and who have incited others to take part in public unrest have “suspicious” motives and are being controlled by “their masters abroad.” It is clear that the goal of these miscreants is to wreak havoc in the country. However, we have a security fence which will protect us from these evil designs. Regardless of the different schools of thought we adopt, we, as citizens, must join forces to counter any plots against us hatched by our enemies. Our unity is a security fence which will maintain our stability and prevent our enemies from doing us any harm no matter how evil their intentions may be. Our security fence is reflected in our understanding of the concept of citizenship, our mutual interests and our concerns for our future and that of our children. __
