A leading Saudi official in the United Kingdom has warned students to stay away from dangerous places where they might be harmed. This comes in the wake of the brutal attack on a Saudi student in Manchester in the early hours of Saturday morning. Dr. Ghazi Bin Abdul Wahid Makki, Saudi Cultural Attaché in the United Kingdom and Ireland, said students must abide by Islamic teachings with regard to certain places and gatherings that could harm them physically and psychologically and damage the country's reputation. Dr. Makki's advice came in a letter addressed to the 19,000 students studying in the United Kingdom. He said this warning also applies to tourists, businessmen and those seeking medical treatment abroad. He urged them to abide by British laws and regulations and advised them not to get involved in any violence or personal feuds with classmates or family members. Toward the end of his letter, Makki said: “We have great confidence in our male and female students and we also respect and appreciate their diligence, hard work and their commitment to their studies.” He said he will pray that Allah protects all Saudis from evil and ensure they return home safely. __
