Emirs of various regions have ordered the country's mayoralties and Civil Defense directorates to prepare for heavy rains and floods. Officials have also been told to follow up on flood projects in certain valleys. The emirs warned that water courses should not be changed if this poses a threat to residential areas and road users. Sources told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that all the emirs will conduct field visits next week to check on preparations. Mayoralties in all regions will prepare emergency rooms to deal with any potential disaster. They will be operated by officials from the mayoralties, Civil Defense, general department of roads and transportation and the Ministry of Water. Traffic departments in each region will also have plans in place to close down roads inundated with water and ensure that water pumps and drainage canals work well. __
