DAMMAM: The Civil Defense has presented to the government a nationwide survey of inhabited sites vulnerable to the threat of floods. The Civil Defense has also informed all regional mayoralties of the measures required to prevent flood disasters at sites it has determined pose a risk to the public and property. The survey, a copy of which has been seen by Okaz/Saudi Gazette, identifies streets, buildings and residential districts which are at risk from their proximity to flood courses, and further includes traffic signals, and areas of uncontrolled residential building in remote villages and settlements. Education Administration Emergency and Disaster committees have, meanwhile, responded to ministerial instructions to promote awareness and ensure that safety conditions are met by introducing first aid training programs and producing warning stickers, leaflets and other forms of information on how to confront flood and fire situations, including fire break-outs, rescue and ambulance numbers. The information includes advice on how to react to a flood situation and areas to avoid such as locations with exposed wires or electricity points. Pupils are advised to remain in their school buildings until they are given explicit instructions to leave by official transport.
