Martin Kaymer capitalized on a flurry of birdies to shoot a brilliant final round 63 to win the WGC-HSBC Champions event by three strokes with a 20-under par total of 268 Sunday. The 26-year-old German had not won since his Abu Dhabi Championship triumph in January took him top of the world rankings but he made sure he would end the season on a high note with the lowest final day winner's score in the event. Kaymer had started the round in a share of sixth place, five shots off the lead held by Swede Fredrik Jacobson, who was initially challenged by fast-starting Britons Rory McIlroy and Paul Casey. However, the entire field was swept aside by Kaymer, who opened with six straight pars before storming to the title with nine birdies in his final 12 holes. Jacobson finished second. Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell redeemed himself in part after his nightmare weekend at the Andalucia Masters last week. He carded five birdies in his five-under 67 to finish in third. Casey finished tied fourth alongside South African Charl Schwartzel and world No. 3 and US Open champion McIlroy. Blake takes lead Jay Don Blake shot a 5-under 66 to take a two-stroke lead after the third round of the Champions Tour's season-ending Charles Schwab Championship Saturday. Blake had five birdies in his bogey-free round at TPC Harding Park. He pulled ahead with birdies on Nos. 16 and 17 and finished at 8-under. Jay Haas shot a 67 to join Michael Allen (69) and David Frost (69) at 6-under. Loren Roberts was another stroke back after a 65, the best round of the day. Charles Schwab Cup points leader Tom Lehman was tied for 16th at 1 over after a 72.
