King Abdullah has approved awarding King Abdul Aziz First-Class Medal to martyr Farman Ali Khan, the Pakistani national who died while saving 14 people from drowning during the Jeddah floods two years ago. The King's approval came in recognition of Khan's heroic act and as an honor for him and his family, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Farman, a 32-year-old Pakistani expat, worked at a grocery store in Jeddah. While attempting to save drowning people at the height of the floods, he tied himself to a pipe and stood at the edge of the heart of the flooding looking for people to pull out. He kept going back to save people until the water got the better of him. Farman left behind his wife and three daughters – Zubaida, Madeeha, and Jarira (then 7, 6 and 4).
