Okaz/Saudi Gazette ‘WE'RE honored to provide charity for the sake of Allah and mobilize all our efforts to get humanitarian aid to the needy across all sectors of society. I, the members of the board of trustees and all personnel of the Prince Sultan Charitable Housing Foundation do charity work for the sake of Allah alone. We'll exert great efforts to achieve the mission of this foundation which would not have existed had it not been for the unlimited and endless support of King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz.” These are the words Prince Sultan left behind to guide and motivate the foundation staff in their work to ensure people live prosperous lives. The foundation has helped transform and modernize the lives of many Bedouin citizens who earlier lived in tin houses. They are now able to participate in the development of the country. Prince Sultan was keen to personally inspect and supervise the construction of charity projects. Majed Al-Qusaibi, a consultant of Prince Sultan's Bureau, said: “Committees were formed to deliver 240 houses for the needy in one of the regions of the Kingdom. The organizing committee decided to hold the ceremony in the main city and invite beneficiaries to attend and receive their title deeds. This was because the closest airport was 240 kilometers away from the project site. When I told Prince Sultan about this plan, he told me that the purpose of these projects is to reach out to people where they live. Prince Sultan insisted on going to the project site himself and to hand over the title deeds to the beneficiaries.” The foundation implemented housing projects in different regions of the Kingdom to meet the needs of the poor and make them happy. Faisal Bin Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, Secretary General of the foundation, said that after Prince Sultan visited several poor areas, he ordered that houses be built for the needy families. “In the first phase of the project, the foundation built 671 residential units for 1,000 poor families. Additionally, another 250 new residential units were built in Tabuk, 300 in Makkah, 280 in Madina and 50 in Hail, totaling 1,551 residential units at a total cost of SR440 million.” The secretary general added that charitable residential complexes with facilities and infrastructure such as mosques, schools and roads were constructed in seven regions of the Kingdom. __
