Corruption Commission has set up its headquarters in the capital and on Monday announced its location, postal address, telephone and fax numbers. The commission will function from its office in Olaya Street, Al-Ghadeer District. The other details are as follows: Post Box No. 7667; phone number 012644444 and fax number 012645555. Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al-Sharif, President of the commission, said the details have been announced so as to strengthen relations with citizens and to facilitate their communication with the commission. He also prayed to Almighty Allah to crown the commission with success in achieving its objectives in combating corruption, protecting integrity and enhancing transparency. King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, ordered the setting up of the commission in May this year. The aims of the commission are to uphold integrity, to promote the principle of transparency, and to fight against financial and administrative corruption in all its forms and manifestations. Its duties include: n Following up the implementation of orders relating to the public interest to ensure compliance. n Investigating aspects of financial and administrative corruption in public works and the operation and maintenance of public contracts at the departments included within the commission's specialization. n Providing direct channels with the public to receive their reports of corruption, verifying these and taking the appropriate measures. n Referring violations and transgressions concerning financial and administrative corruption when they are discovered to the investigative department, and n Following up the retrieval of funds and proceeds from crimes of corruption with the relevant authorities.
