Two King Saud University (KSU) scientists have patented a new drug derived from a Saudi plant to treat and inhibit asthma. Dr. Muhammad Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Yahya, faculty member of the school of pharmacy and professor of pharmacology, and Dr. Kamal Al-Deen Hussain Al-Tahir, professor of pharmacology, successfully patented the drug at the Chinese Patent Bureau. The drug was sent to the International Patent Office and the European Patent Office to apply for a patent certificate. The Program of Intellectual Property and Technology Licensing at KSU is helping to expedite the patent application at the European Patent Office. A patent certificate can help to market the medication around the world.
