Some 200,000 temporary government employees are to be offered permanent employment with the beginning of the new Hijra year. In February this year, King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, ordered that all Saudi nationals in temporary public sector jobs should be made permanent because temporary contracts denied them major perks. The King ordered the official appointment of all male and female Saudi nationals recruited in all categories of jobs and paid from the state budget, along with government-agency workers who are paid from funds outside the budget, such as the students' fund, funds for shelters and endowment, as well as those who are working on contracts in community service colleges and education centers. The process of regularizing the temporary employees will be implemented by a committee from the Ministry of Civil Service, Ministry of Finance and other relevant authorities, in stages starting with the next fiscal year. __
