powered electricity-generating power station is set to be launched Saturday. The station, located on Farasan Island, in the Kingdom's Southern region, will be launched by the Saudi Electricity Company and is expected to have an annual production of 864,000 kilowatt hours, officials said. The power source is financed by Showa Shell Sekiyu, a Japanese company that seeks to generate clean energy on the island, said Abdul Salam Al-Yamani, Vice Chairman of Public Affairs at Saudi Electricty Company. The firm has installed equipment at the plant, he added. The plant will be linked to the main relay network in the area, Al-Yamani added. Ali Bin Saleh Al-Barrak, CEO and President of the SEC; Khaled Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Faleh, President of Saudi Aramco; and Shigeru Endo, the Japanese ambassador to the Kingdom, are also scheduled to attend the event.
