Manchester United dropped its first points of the season after a 1-1 draw at Stoke City Saturday but ended the day leading the Premier League table after vacating top spot to Manchester City for a few hours. City went ahead of United after its 2-0 win at lunchtime over Everton, but United regained top spot, albeit on goal difference after its evening match ended in a draw at Stoke which brought United's winning five-match start to the season to a close. Nani put United ahead after 27 minutes before England striker Peter Crouch equalized seven minutes into the second half with his first goal for Stoke since his 9.0 million pounds transfer from Tottenham Hotspur last month. Crouch also became just the sixth player to score for six different Premier League clubs. United and City both have 16 points from six matches. Chelsea is third after its 4-1 win over Swansea City which proved an eventful match for its Spanish striker Fernando Torres who scored its opener after 29 minutes but was sent off for a flying lunge which earned him a straight red card 10 minutes later. In other action, Newcastle United maintained its unbeaten start with a 3-1 win over Blackburn Rovers to stay fourth, Liverpoool moved up to fifth with a 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur won its third successive league game to move into sixth place with a 2-1 victory at Wigan Athletic. Arsenal, which has made its worst start to a season for 58 years, climbed from 17th to 12th after beating Bolton Wanderers 3-0 at the Emirates leaving Bolton bottom after a fifth successive defeat. Bayern in control Bayern Munich stayed in control of the Bundesliga by cruising past Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 Saturday with two early goals and a late strike by Arjen Robben on his return from injury. Thomas Mueller and Daniel van Buyten scored inside the first 19 minutes and Robben completed the win in the 90th. Lukasz Piszczek scored his first goal for Borussia Dortmund late in the match to rally the defending Bundesliga champion to a 2-1 victory at Mainz. Piszczek's goal in the 90th minute ended Dortmund's three-game run without a win. Schalke won its first game since the sudden departure of coach Ralf Rangnick by beating Freiburg 4-2. Wolfsburg beat Kaiserslautern 1-0 despite being down to 10 men, Borussia Moenchengladbach beat Nuremberg 1-0 and promoted Augsburg is winless after drawing 0-0 at home with Hannover.
