Abdul Salik Khan, Consul General of Pakistan, has lauded the continued support from the Kingdom to his country in all spheres. Khan was speaking Thursday at a function to jointly commemorate the National Day of the Kingdom and Pakistan Defense Day. Tariq Mishkhas, Managing Editor of Daily Urdu News, was the guest of honor at the event hosted by Pakistan Journalists Forum. Saudi-Pak relations, Khan said, are unique and both the countries are bonded together by religious, historical, cultural and economic factors. He said both the countries are strategic partners, and are parts of single entity. He appreciated the Saudi leadership for their policies ensuring stability in the country and making it world's leading country economically. “Saudi Arab has always supported Pakistan in difficult times for which we are grateful to the leadership and the people of Saudi Arabia,” he said. Pakistan, Khan said, was facing unusual rains and floods in Sindh and Balochistan that have caused colossal damage to the lives, infrastructure, livestock and agriculture. He urged the Pakistani community and Saudi philanthropists to come forward and assist the government in rehabilitation of the flood victims. Mishkhas, in his address, said the Kingdom owes much to King Abdul Aziz who united the Kingdom and made it a strong entity. He said that strength and peace in Kingdom emanate from the wise and sagacious policies of its leadership. He said that Saudi leadership and its people always wish the Muslim Ummah peace and prosperity. He said that prosperity and development of Pakistan has been the objective of the Saudi people and its leadership. While expressing his anguish over the the floods, Mishkhas urged Saudis and Pakistanis here to donate for the flood victims generously. Amir Muhammad Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Journalists Forum, welcomed the guests and underlined the importance of commemorating the Saudi National Day and Pakistan Defense Day jointly. National anthems of both the countries and national songs were also played on the occasion, a press release issued by the consulate general here said.
