A report evaluating reconciliation offices in courts showed a considerable increase in the number of cases during the first half of the current Hijri year, Dec. 7 to June 3. Kingdomwide, the offices looked into 7,654 cases, according to the report, which Okaz/Saudi Gazette obtained. The Conciliation Department in Makkah District Court received 3,346 conciliation cases, the highest number among the Kingdom's courts that handle the cases. The Marriage Court in Riyadh, which received 1,591 cases, had the second-highest number of them; it was followed by the Conciliation Office in the General Court in Makkah, which had 837 cases; and the Conciliation Office in Jeddah General Court, which had 755 cases, according to the report. Conciliation offices in Asir Region courts received 383 cases, there were 336 in the Samta General Court and 200 in the Abha District Court, the report said. The Ministry of Justice established the Conciliation Administration to supervise conciliation departments in the courts, train employees and develop their skills and capabilities. Its objective is to achieve family stability, peacefully solve family and marital disputes, prevent divorces and family breakups, and address behavioral and psychological issues. These goals are achieved through providing assistance, services and guidance to members of the society who need them, helping them understand the dimensions of their problems and striving to solve them according to Shariah controls through guidance, conciliation or referring them to the authority concerned. __
