Stability was restored to 432 families in Jeddah after reconciliation sessions brought them back together. The number of divorce cases during the first half of the Hijri year 1431 (December 18, 2009 to June 13, 2010) reached 271; the number of cases for women demanding divorce in what is known as khula reached 346, according to a report by the Social Harmony Center for Reconciliation and Family Counseling in Jeddah. About 380 families did not attend the reconciliation sessions, which reflects that that they returned to their marital home without the need for passing through the reconciliation sessions, and reconciliation committees are following 128 cases, said Zuhair Bin Abdul Rahman Nasser, director of the center. He added that the sessions ending in reconciliation in the General Court reached 140; 33 cases reached the District Court for Guarantees and Marriage Contracts and 259 cases were reconciled at the center's headquarters. Nasser said 90 divorce cases reached the General Court and 181 reached the District Court.
