Hantuchova advances at Quebec tourney

seeded Daniela Hantuchova beat Ajla Tomljanovic 6-0, 2-6, 6-4 to reach the second round of the WTA Bell Challenge tournament Tuesday.
No. 2 seed Lucie Safarova, No. 3 Tamira Paszek, No. 5 Sofia Arvidsson and No. 6 Barbora Zahlavova Strycova also advanced in the $220,000 WTA tournament. French qualifieer Julie Coin surprised No. 8 seed Anna Tatishvili of Georgia 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.
Safarova cruised past American Jill Craybas 6-2, 6-1, and Paszek shaded American Ashley Weinhold 6-0, 4-6, 6-2.
Arvidsson defeated Russia's Elena Bovina 2-6, 6-1, 6-2, and Strycova beat China's Zhang Shuai 6-4, 6-2.
Also Tuesday, Croatia's Mirjana Lucic beat Jamie Hampton of the United States 6-4, 6-2, and American Melanie Oudin lost 6-1, 6-3 to Andrea Hlavackova of the Czech Republic.
Pervak, Kudryavtseva advance
Top-seeded Ksenia Pervak and defending champion Alla Kudryavtseva were the only seeded players to survive the second round at the Taskent Open Wednesday.
In the quest for a first career title, Pervak beat local wild card Sabina Sharipova 6-3, 6-3, while Kudryavtseva defeated Vitalia Diatchenko 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.
Earlier, French qualifier Victoria Larriere beat fifth-seeded Magdalena Rybarikova 6-4, 6-4.
Eva Birnerova rallied to beat seventh-seeded Evgeniya Rodina 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-1, and Valeria Savinykh eliminated fourth-seeded Anastasija Sevastova 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.
Urszula Radwanska rallied to beat Akgul Amanmuradova 6-7 (2), 6-4, 6-3, while Eleni Daniilidou advanced to her first quarterfinal this season with a 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over Misaki Doi.
