seeded Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-4 in the first round of the Swedish Open Monday. Anastasiya Yakimova of Belarus beat American Jill Craybas 2-6, 7-6 (5), 6-1. Fourth-seeded Lourdes Domingues Lino of Spain and No. 7 Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic also advanced. The third-seeded Czech lost her serve just once, when leading 4-1 in the second set, but otherwise had little trouble with her opponent. Fifth-seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Russia's Anastasia Pivovarova. Djokovic won his second major title of the year, and the third of his career, when he beat defending champion Rafael Nadal in the Wimbledon final Sunday. Murray has reached three finals and four semifinals but is still searching for his first major — something no British man has achieved since Fred Perry won the last of his eight titles in 1936. The 24-year-old Murray won the first set of his Wimbledon semifinal against Nadal last week, only to end the match well beaten. But the Scot still believes one of the four majors — the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open — is within his grasp. Davis dates changed The International Tennis Federation is changing the dates for the 2012 and 2013 Davis Cup finals as part of a shorter calendar for men's tennis. The ITF said Monday that next year's Davis Cup final will be Nov. 16-18, two weeks earlier than originally planned. The new dates are the weekend after the ATP World Tour Finals. The 2013 final will be Nov. 15-17. The ATP decided last year to extend the offseason for men's tennis from five to seven weeks, starting in 2012.
