It has a magnetic pull that mysteriously draws worshippers to it all year round. Research conducted by Dr. Yahya Waziri, a professor of geology and architecture at the University of Cairo has indeed proved that the Holy City is the center of the earth. They viewed pictures of Makkah, taken from satellites in the sky and studied its map on programs such as Google Earth. Makkah appears as a bright radiating spot on the map of the Earth, reflecting the popular belief that Makkah is a sacred beacon of religion, spirituality, enlightenment, and reflection. Using another software called Qibla Locater, the landscape was scrutinized and the exact distance between Makkah and hundreds of variable points on the Earth was meticulously studied and compared with other cities, to reveal that Makkah lies at the center of the planet. This discovery helps us understand the explanation of the verse in the Qur'an in Surah Al-Baqra that says to the inhabitants of Makkah, “We have made you (true Muslims) a middle nation, a just (and the best) nation.” Makkah is geographically the perfect place for pilgrims living in every corner of the world to gather, draped in the same white garments, to perform the exact same rituals during Umrah and Haj.
