The land grant plan, suspended for the last 14 years as a result of some individuals' objections and claims to the real estate, has been restored and accordingly 484 plots of lands will be given to the residents here. The restoration of the suspended land grant came from King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The order asked the Al-Qunfudha Municipality and the Encroachment Committee to monitor the plan. Salem Ali Aal Munif, head of Al-Qunfudha Municipality, said the work is under way to complete the information of residents included in the grants. He said the plot will be distributed soon. Munaji Al-Zailae, a resident who was a Al-Burj Plan beneficiary, said the land grant was approved in 1997, but some individuals filed a case claiming they owned the property. “Receiving the lands was suspended for 14 years until we (the residents) filed an appeal to start the actual distribution of the plan, then Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques order was issued,” he said. __
