Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Majed Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of Madina region, has directed security authorities to produce those merchants before the Commerce Ministry's branch in Madina who were found to be tampering with prices. Despite several notices, these merchants have been refusing to appear before the anti-fraud committee of the ministry, Al-Madina Arabic newspaper said Wednesday. An official source at the branch of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Madina said the authorities concerned sent a list of 40 erring merchants to the Emirate for defying the ministry's order. The source said the Emir's response was fast and very firm. He said the merchants were tampering with the prices of children's toys, souvenirs and ready-made clothes. All these violations took place during holy month of Ramadan, the source said. Inspections during the holy month found that several retailers were overcharging the millions of pilgrims who were in the city to pray in the Prophet's Mosque.
