Khafji died in a road accident in Manifah, Eastern Province Friday night. Eight others were injured, according to reports reaching the Filipino community in Al-Khafji. The fatalities were Rosalinda Caparas, a Ministry of Health nurse working at the Al-Khafji General Hospital for the last seven years, and Nonato de Leon Sayao, a trailer driver employed at the Integrated Logistics Company. Both died on the spot. The eight injured workers were Ambrocio Castillo, driver of the Suburban vehicle, his wife Dina Castillo, Dominic Prodigalidad, Nelbert Nagdamin, Marlon Garcia, Alcilito Ladran, Angel Bonifacio, and Jonathan Balingit. They were taken to the Nariyah General Hospital where they were provided immediate medical assistance. As of Sunday, seven of the injured were released from the said hospital, accept for one who was transferred to a private hospital in Al-Khafji. According to Greg Crisosto, a community leader in Al-Khafji, the ten Filipino workers, all were in Al-Khobar Friday to do some shopping. Caparas even purchased some items for her children since she was due to take her annual leave. The group traveled back to Al-Khafji Friday night. The accident took place less than 200 km from Al-Khobar before reaching Manifah. According to reports, the back right tire of the Suburban vehicle exploded, causing the vehicle to roll, pinning the two fatalities. __
