The Saudi Diabetes and Endocrine Association (SDEA) has released a medical bulletin urging all diabetic patients to consult their doctors at the end of the month of fasting regarding their state of health as they resume their normal activities. “It is essential that diabetic patients visit their doctors and submit themselves to medical examinations as they celebrate Eid Al-Fitr. The important things are that diabetic patients are able to maintain their blood sugar and blood pressure level within the recommended range,” said Dr. Basem Futa, head of the SDEA information section. He said the advice of doctors regarding the timing of taking medication, exercise, proper meal, food safety, and how food are prepared are to be followed strictly now that diabetic patients resume their routine lifestyle after Ramadan. “SDEA wishes to congratulate our diabetic citizens for having successfully ended Ramadan; the medical teams and families of diabetic patients who supported them in their fasting deserve appreciation,” the bulletin said. __
