BMW FutureLab showcases driver-assistance technology
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 24 - 08 - 2011

FutureLab welcomes visitors to take part in interactive demonstrations of BMW technology.
JEDDAH – Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors (BMW Group) provided a live demonstration of its innovative ConnectedDrive driver-assistance technologies through an especially designed FutureLab that explains BMW's key innovations through the senses of sight, sound and touch.
BMW ConnectedDrive is BMW Group's philosophy of exchanging information between the driver, the car and the outside world to give the driver and passengers' information and services to help make their driving experience safer and more comfortable.
The display, which was assembled for 10 days at Kingdom Mall in Riyadh and then 8 days Marina Park Hyatt in Jeddah, was flown in especially from Munich by Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors, the official importer of the BMW Group in Saudi Arabia. Visitors were able to go inside the FutureLab and take part in interactive demonstrations of BMW technology in the latest BMW models, including the BMW X5, BMW 6 Series Convertible, and BMW 7 Series.
Anees Jamjoom, managing director of Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors, said "as a high-traffic area that is always busy, Kingdom Mall and Marina Park Hyatt are the perfect venues for us to display this FutureLab for people to see, understand and experience the latest technological advancements that have been incorporated over the last two years into the BMW's latest product range. These features have all been designed to benefit the driver and passenger from both a safety and comfort standpoint."
The display also highlighted Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors' historic partnership with STC, which allows BMW ConnectedDrive functions to include in-car services that allow registered BMW vehicles to benefit from a host of powerful functions exclusive to BMW such as BMW Online, which will launch in the Kingdom soon.
The function enables customers, whose vehicles have the required function options, to access emails and their address book from the car, where messages are displayed on the vehicle's monitor and accessed through the iDrive controller. Customers can also log onto their personal, password-protected BMW Online email account. In addition, passengers can use STC's Wifi services to experience on-board internet access through their portable devices such as Smartphone's, laptops and iPads. Available across the entire BMW range of new models as optional features, the BMW ConnectedDrive elements fall into three categories – Comfort, Safety and Infotainment – under which there are a growing range of innovative and inspiring technologies.
