The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has banned certain products of the Moroccan Aghadeer Company because laboratory tests have shown these products contain substances that do not match the claims of the manufacturers, Al-Eqtisadiah Arabic daily reported Sunday. The SFDA said cyproheptadine, an anti-allergenic, was found in Aghadeer Body Max, used to increase body weight; Tadalafil, used for the treatment of impotence (erectile dysfunction) was found in Aghadeer for Men Only; and anthraquinone, a laxative, was found in Aghadeer for Slimming. The SFDA stressed that the preparations have not been registered at the authority and not cleared. Besides this, the company has not mentioned the ingredients in its preparations. Therefore, trading in these preparations is in violation of the regulation for pharmaceutical enterprises and preparations, issued according to Royal Decree No. M/31 dated 19/7/2004. The SFDA has written to the authorities for these preparations to be withdrawn and legal action taken against those who trade and import the products. The SFDA advised consumers not to use or ingest the abovementioned preparations and to dispose of any products they may still have.
