Princess Noura Bint Abdul Rahman University will in the next few days introduce world class academic standards at the institution which will ensure its graduates can make major contributions to their communities. King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, inaugurated the $5.3 billion (over SR20 billion) university campus on the outskirts of the capital in June this year. It is the largest women-only university campus in the Kingdom. Dr. Huda Al-Ameel, President of the university, said that “The university encourages its faculty members, undergraduates and postgraduate students to focus on scientific research and academic studies to serve our community, especially those which focus on women and family issues and contribute to social development.” Al-Ameel thanked King Abdullah, the Crown Prince and the Second Deputy Premier for “the great support they have given to one of the largest academic institutions in the Middle East”. Al-Ameel also praised the Ministry of Higher Education for its support which will “enable the university to perfectly perform its educational and research missions”. Al-Ameel said the university has an important role to play in educating Saudi women and allowing them to undertake academic research. “The university is working on completing the second phase of admissions to different schools based on market needs.” She said the university wants to enroll as many students as possible, while maintaining its quality standards. The university will soon announce the names of successful applicants. __
