The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) has banned jewelry that imitate Saudi currency coins in its designs. The statement came after SAMA noticed a widespread practice in local jewelry shops that displayed necklaces studded with imitates of Saudi coins. The agency underscored the necessity of withdrawing such jewelry that had counterfeit Saudi coins of various denominations. SAMA has called marketing, selling and using such accessories a violation of the agency's regulations. A source at SAMA said using such accessories is in violation of Article Two of the monetary regulation and Article Four and Five of the penal regulation for forgery and imitation whether they are used for cultural, industrial or commercial purposes. __
