Three Indonesian teachers who graduated from Umm Al-Qura University's Arabic Language Institute for Non-native Speakers (ALINS) have translated the Holy Qur'an into Indonesian. Dr. Adil Ahmad Bana'mah, ALINS Dean, said, “This achievement reflects the prestigious reputation of ALINS and its courses, in particular, and Umm Al-Qura University, in general. It stresses the importance of Saudi universities in developing and training more efficient students who will benefit the country in future. These courses have achieved their goals, thanks to Allah the Almighty and then to the students who are keen to learn.” Bana'mah expects these courses to achieve more productive results when they develop further. “ALINS graduates will not be only highly competent and pioneer Arabic teachers in their homelands but they will also enhance the role of the Kingdom in serving Muslims all over the world.” ALINS courses aim to qualify students and widen their knowledge of Arabic using the most modern teaching methods for second language acquisition, Bana'mah explained. They also focus on pinpointing and discussing problems that learners encounter, suggesting solutions to these problems, increase the level of student comprehension by having them read written texts, Bana'mah added. “Students also study religious texts to build their religious information in Arabic. The program offers several cultural, religious and linguistic modalities,” he said.
