Eleven people died in separate car accidents Friday. A child survived with serious injuries from an accident that killed six members of his family on the Taif-Riyadh Road – 6 km away from Dhulum town, about 230 km northeast of Taif – when the family car collided head-on with another and overturned several times. The two persons in the other car survived. In Samtah, south of the country, five persons died when their car collided at high speed with the rear of a large water tanker on Al-Hadrour-Al-Thuwal Road. The small car was crushed under the tanker. There was much grief in the deceased men's town, Alhadrour, near Samtah, after the tragic accident. First Lt. Mesleh Al-Ghamdi, Acting Spokesman for the Civil Defense in Jizan, said the Operations Room received a report about persons in a car trapped under a water tanker. An ambulance and rescuers were sent to the scene but the five men were found dead inside the car. Their bodies were taken to Samtah General Hospital, he said. __
