A program launched Wednesday uses 500 golf carts to transport visitors and Umrah pilgrims to and from the Central Area near the Grand Mosque and parking lots, Col. Mish'al Al-Maghribi, Director of Makkah Traffic Department, said. The project, which runs during the holy month of Ramadan, aims to facilitate the movement of Umrah pilgrims after their arrival at the Haram, he said. About 50 young men belonging to the Districts Centers Society and scouts are participating in this project, which includes a cart to carry food, under the auspices of the Administration of South Asia Tawafa Establishment. Meanwhile, more than 2,000 students from the Public Security Training City have been deployed in Makkah's Central Area, including the courtyards of the Grand Mosque, throughout the holy month of Ramadan to receive the guests of Allah and serve them. The students' efforts are part of their preparation to work in public security, said Col. Mas'oud Al-Adwani, commander of the Public Security Training City in Makkah, which, he added, is among the city's support forces. Colonel Al-Adwani said the students were given lectures under the supervision of Umm Al-Qura University and the Public Security Command in Makkah on how to deal with Umrah pilgrims and visitors to the Grand Mosque, and carry out their duties in the field.
