All male and female secondary school graduates will be accommodated at the country's universities, said Dr. Khaled Bin Muhammad Al-Anqari, Minister of Higher Education. He said there are enough seats at universities for all graduates, because some universities have increased their capacity, while others will accept students in stages. He urged students and parents to be patient because all graduates will get places. He made these comments at the signing of five contracts worth SR889.4 million for new projects at a number of universities. He said all projects are being carried out and all the deficiencies and shortcomings of previous projects have been tackled. He emphasized that the ministry has overseen the completion of the majority of previous projects. The remaining projects will be completed in the next few weeks. Commenting on the alleged chaos at some universities during admission procedures, he said “what happened cannot be described as chaos. What happened was a rush by students to get seats out of a belief that their early attendance would enable them to get a seat, which is a mistake. This makes me once again confirm that all secondary graduates this year will get seats at universities”. He also called on students to look for other places of study, such as technical colleges and private universities. He said students should not insist on one specialty because there are other scientific specialties that are equally important. He said the colleges attract several students because all graduates of these colleges get jobs on graduation. __
