The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has approved international flights to Al-Ahsa's airport from countries in the region. Saleh Bin Hasan Al-Afaliq, Chairman of Al-Ahsa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the chamber worked hard with relevant authorities to get it international status. It coordinated efforts with GACA to permit Qatari Airlines to operate a daily flight to-and-from the airport. There was also a study conducted on the expected demand for air services for the next 25 years, and the infrastructure projects required for the airport's development. He added that GACA played an important role in preparing the airport to operate regional flights and allow some airlines to operate flights to neighboring regions. This will support growth of the air transport market in the Kingdom. __
