Charitable authorities in the Eastern Province have completed preparations for their activities in the holy month of Ramadan, which include holding camps to provide Iftar (breakfast) to the fasting people, giving religious lectures in Dammam and Al-Khobar, and conducting Da'wa activities. Camps will provide religious booklets and cassettes, and host lectures and courses supervised by sheikhs and Ulema from different parts of the Muslim World. Those in charge of the program for providing Iftar say that the main problem is the lack of financial support, which has slowed their developmental and creative plans for Da'wa and other projects. In Dammam, home of the biggest gathering of fasting people in the Eastern Province, Dr. Abdul Wahid Al-Mazrou', Director of the Cooperative Center for Da'wa and Guidance in Al-Souq area, said preparation of the biggest camp for providing Iftar in city's downtown was completed several days ago. It is expected to host more than 5,000 people daily. The camp was set up in Al-Souq area near Al-Rayyan Grand Mosque, inhabited by a large number of expatriate workers, Dr. Al-Mazrou' said. He said the camp, which also welcomes non-Muslims, will provide Iftar to about 6,000 people from various expatriate communities and inform them about Saudi residency laws and regulations. Preparations for the camp, which will be held for the sixth consecutive year, started four months ago, he added. __
