Twenty-two workers were injured Friday when the bus they were traveling in crashed here Friday. The brakes of the bus which was taking the workers to their workplace in Balqaran governorate, reportedly failed, reports said. Two of the injured were rushed in a Red Crescent ambulance to Sabt Al-Alaya Hospital while the others were transported in the same bus. The bus driver, a Pakistani national, sustained head and eye injuries. “The accident happened because of a sudden brake failure. Had it not been for Allah, it would've been worse,” said the driver. Sabt Al-Alaya Hospital medical team received 22 workers, of which 16 were Indian nationals, one Pakistani, one Nepali, and four Turks. Of the last four, one was admitted to the intensive care unit while the other three were waiting for a transfer to Bisha Hospital. The workers sustained various injuries ranging from minor to severe fractures, bruises and contusions. One worker was admitted to the ICU while others were treated in general wards. It was clear that the hospital did not have the capacity to receive so many accident cases in one go. Some injured workers were placed in the emergency unit andsome at the entrance of the hospital because of the paucity of beds. Added to this, there was also a lack of doctors and nurses. It was noticed that there were only two emergency doctors to deal with a large number of accident cases. __
