The Texas Rangers extended their winning streak to 12 games Tuesday with a 7-0 victory over divisional rivals the Los Angeles Angels. Starter Alexi Ogando baffled the Angels during eight scoreless innings to give the Rangers another stellar pitching performance en route to their longest winning streak since 1991, when the team won a franchise-best 14 consecutive games. Darren Oliver worked the ninth inning to wrap up Ogando's 10th win of the season and send the Rangers (56-41) steamrolling forward. “We're in a good groove right now and we know it,” Texas catcher Mike Napoli told reporters. Napoli spent his first five seasons with the Angels before joining the Rangers for this season. “It's fun coming back here to play. The most important thing is we got the win.” The Rangers current stretch has been sparked by the pitching staff, who have allowed just two runs in their last six games. The Texas batters came alive against Los Angeles also, with Josh Hamilton going 3-for-5 with a home run while Adrian Beltre and Endy Chavez each added two hits and two RBIs. Los Angeles' 21-year-old starter Tyler Chatwood allowed three runs in five innings to take the loss and the Angels (51-46) fell five games behind the charging Rangers for first place in the American League West. The Angels managed just four hits for the game and have lost four of five since returning for the second-half of the season. Beltre got Texas off on the right foot with a run-scoring double in the first, and the visitors added runs in the fourth and fifth. Chavez homered in the eighth before Hamilton and Beltre added blasts in the ninth. Twins 2, Indians 1: Danny Valencia hit a two-run single off closer Chris Perez in the ninth inning Tuesday night, sending the host Minnesota Twins to a 2-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians. Orioles 6, Red Sox 2: Jeremy Guthrie (4-13), who leads the major leagues in losses, allowed two runs in seven innings as host Baltimore beat Boston for the first time in eight tries. Tigers 8, Athletics 3: Miguel Cabrera and Carlos Guillen hit two-run homers in host Detroit's six-run fifth inning, overcoming a 3-1 deficit against Oakland starter Guillermo Moscoso (3-5). Blue Jays 6, Mariners 5: Host Toronto's Rajai Davis singled in the 14th, stole second and third, and scored on John McDonald's sacrifice fly, sending Seattle to its 10th straight loss.
