Josh Hamilton had four hits, including a homer, and drove in three runs to help the Texas Rangers outslug the Seattle Mariners 7-6 Saturday, extending their division lead to 4 ½ games over the Los Angeles Angels in the AL West. The Angels lost 6-2 to the Baltimore Orioles Saturday afternoon. The Rangers offense picked up a struggling Colby Lewis (13-10) and hit three solo home runs off Mariners' starter Anthony Vasquez in the third inning. Elvis Andrus homered into the Mariners bullpen in left field, Hamilton hit a line drive just over the wall down the right field line and Adrian Beltre crushed a first pitch from Vasquez (1-4) off the facade of the upper deck in left field to knot the game at 4. Orioles 6, Angels 2: The Los Angeles Angels' shaky playoff hopes took another blow when Ervin Santana yielded five first-inning runs in a loss to the Baltimore Orioles. Desperately needing a win to stay within striking distance of first-place Texas in the AL West and Boston in the wild-card chase, Los Angeles fell flat for the second night in a row against the last-place Orioles. Yankees 7, Blue Jays 6: Mariano Rivera tied the major league saves record, earning the 601st of his career and matching Trevor Hoffman while preserving the New York Yankees' win over the Toronto Blue Jays. The 41-year-old Rivera was perfect in pitching the ninth inning for his 42nd save of the season. Indians 10, Twins 4: Carlos Santana hit his 25th home run and Jeanmar Gomez pitched effectively into the seventh inning before leaving with an injury as the Cleveland Indians beat the Minnesota Twins. Gomez (4-2) won his fourth straight start since being recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Aug. 30. He allowed two runs and seven hits over 6 2/3 innings, sending the Twins to their seventh straight loss. Athletics 5, Tigers 3: Gio Gonzalez pitched seven innings for his 14th win and Oakland turned three double plays in the first five innings and the Athletics beat the Detroit Tigers. Coco Crisp drove in the deciding run with an RBI single over the head of shortstop Jhonny Peralta in the second inning while Josh Willingham singled twice and scored for Oakland. Rays 4, Red Sox 3: Ben Zobrist hit a two-run homer off Jon Lester to lead the Tampa Bay Rays to a victory over the Red Sox and trim Boston's lead in the AL wild-card race to three games. Royals 10, White Sox 3: The surging Kansas City Royals are giving their fans a glimpse of a brighter future. Mike Moustakas hit his third home run in four games and Jeff Francoeur hit a three-run homer and the Royals beat the Chicago White Sox for their seventh straight victory.
