Traffic departments across the Kingdom have been issued directives to crack down upon the use of fake number plates to circumvent the Saher traffic-monitoring system. Maj. Gen. Sulaiman Al-Ajlan, Director General of the Traffic Administration, issued the order after officials discovered over 170 forged number plates belonging to GCC countries in Taif. Traffic departments throughout the Kingdom have formed plainclothes police teams to chase motorists who use bogus number plates, sources told Okaz/Saudi Gazette. Col. Abdullah Al-Sharani, Director of Traffic Administration in Taif, said police seized 177 fake plates and pointed out that the suspects have been referred to the Criminal Investigation Dept in Taif for further action. He said intensive presence of traffic police and their deployment in strategic areas of the summer capital has helped in the arrest of a large number of violators. __
