The National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) has welcomed this week's Council of Ministers' statement calling on Arab governments to initiate serious reforms to guarantee human rights and dignity. “This call is compatible with the King Abdullah Reform Project and his continuous royal directives to respect human rights and freedom, and not mistreat anyone,” the NSHR said in a statement. The NSHR said human rights and dignity are the basis for development around the world, and that all government officials should comply with the royal directives and make them the standard of assessment. The Council of Ministers reviewed several reports about the ongoing crises in Arab nations, said Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Khoja, Minister of Culture and Information, who reiterated that the Kingdom was keen to achieve security, stability and sovereignty of all Arab nations. “The Kingdom expresses its sorrow at the death of people including women and children and calls upon all to use sound judgment and wisdom, stop bloodshed and resort to reforms that guarantee human rights and dignity for Arabs,” he said after Monday's Cabinet meeting. __
