BMW Group Middle East has posted a 13 percent growth in sales for the first half of 2011 compared to the same period last year. Following a record year in 2010 and double digit growth in Q1, BMW Group Middle East said it delivered a total of 9,134 BMW and Mini vehicles to customers across 14 Middle East markets. The Group's latest sales results reveal sustained growth across a number of markets, including Abu Dhabi, the best performer in terms of volume, achieving a 32 percent increase in sales (2,247 cars). The UAE capital wa followed by Dubai with 29 percent growth (2,014 cars), Saudi Arabia 14 percent growth (1,684 cars); while Kuwait saw sales improve by 13 percent. "The BMW 7 Series, our flagship model is a recognized leader in the luxury automotive segment and will be a natural partner for the Ministry's diplomatic mission," said Sheikh Mohamed Yousuf Naghi, president of Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors. Reiner Braun, director of sales and marketing for BMW Group Middle East, said: "We continue to provide Middle East customers the very best in sheer driving pleasure. However, we do not see success as an invitation for complacency and watching our business grow only motivates us to do even better in the coming months." The BMW 5 Series was the top selling model with 2,186 cars sold, followed by the BMW 7 Series of which 2,111 units were sold. The BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupé and X5 Sports Activity Vehicle also proved popular with 1,385 and 1,206 cars sold respectively. The Mini brand continued to grow with H1 sales rising 61 percent across eight Middle East markets with 471 cars sold. Markets that performed well included Dubai with an increase of 135 percent (174 cars), Abu Dhabi with 76 percent (104 cars), Saudi Arabia with 76 percent (37 cars) growth, Kuwait with 74 percent, Oman 10 percent (22 cars) and Lebanon with 13 percent growth (45 cars). Three new dedicated Mini showrooms have been launched in Dubai, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to cater for the brand's growth, BMW Group Middle East said.
