Tamika Catchings added 11 points, six rebounds and four steals for the Fever, who won their fifth straight game. Sue Bird scored 21 points and Swin Cash had 13 for the Storm, who played their fourth straight game without Australian center Lauren Jackson while she recovers from hip surgery. The Fever played without starting guard Briann January, who suffered a season-ending knee injury on June 28. Mercury 101, Sparks 82: In Phoenix, Diana Taurasi and Candice Dupree scored 20 points each, helping Phoenix rally for victory over Los Angeles after a scary injury to guard Ketia Swanier. Swanier was helped off the court in the third following an elbow to the head by Sparks guard Kristi Toliver. The Mercury turned a 10-point deficit into a 14-point lead in that quarter and never let up on the way to their sixth win in seven games. Penny Taylor had 16 points for Phoenix. Ebony Hoffman had 21 points for Los Angeles. Sky 78, Mystics 65: In Rosemont, Illinois, Sylvia Fowles scored a season-high 34 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to help Chicago snap a three-game losing streak with victory over Washington.
