Young students are being trained to use robots and other technology in various fields at a special summer program at Dar Al-Dhikr School. The program, in collaboration with the King Abdul Aziz and his Companions Foundation for Gifted (Mawhiba), aims to guide the new generation to the right way of using technology to develop the country, said Mohammad Ba-Aishra, supervisor of the program for elementary students in Jeddah. In six months, 75 students of third and sixth levels registered online and took special exams, he added. The sixth-level students will learn how to install, program and use robots for different purposes, he added. The three-week program designed for Jeddah students is part of applying an international vision of dealing with technology for humanitarian purposes. “The school had organized many international and local contests for Saudi students to discover, develop and bring new inventions to the international community and use them peacefully,” Ba-Aishra said. Mawhiba was founded in 1999 at the initiative of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. It is an independent nonprofit organization based in Riyadh and dedicated to identifying and supporting young gifted and talented Saudis. __
