Street vendors sell porn CDs to teens

Friday is a sacred day for all Muslims but sellers and hawkers at Al-Nakasa District's flea market have been desecrating this day by selling pornographic CDs to teenagers.
The traders, mostly illegal residents, take advantage of the crowds to sell their contraband.
A person at the flea market showed Okaz/Saudi Gazette the place where the illicit CDs were being sold. It was full of tables on which hundreds of CDs were displayed, some of which were covered by light and heavy pieces of cloth. There you can buy movies, cartoons and porn CDs. The latter were displayed on request and cost SR3 to SR5.
“These CDs do not contain any obscene things,” one of the sellers said in a cold manner. Obviously, he was hiding the truth.
Street vendors and hawkers were everywhere, near big business stores, malls and restaurants.
“These sellers and hawkers take advantage of teenagers whose parents do not keep a close eye on them or give enough time to raise them in an upright manner,” said 60-year-old Nasser, adding that the family plays a major role in eradicating this phenomenon.
“While I was buying some normal CDs, a person came from behind and asked the seller to give him some porn CDs. I was surprised when the seller disappeared for a few minutes and showed up with the porn CDs and gave them to him just like that,” said one of the persons who frequent the flea market.
Walking around the market, teenagers could be seen everywhere searching for these CDs and they are targeted by sellers and hawkers exploiting their innocence.
“Periodic inspections carried out by the mayoralty seeks to end this negative phenomenon by catching sellers and hawkers and handing them over to the police,” said Sahal Hassan Milibari, spokesman of Makkah Mayoralty. __
