BRIDGETOWN: The familiar pairing of Rahul Dravid and Vangipurappu Laxman were guiding India towards safety in the second Test against West Indies in Barbados Friday. The duo, who often torment teams with long and stubborn partnerships, added 54 runs in an unbroken third-wicket stand to steer India to 143 for two in their second innings at tea on the fourth day at Kensington Oval. That gave the tourists an overall lead of 154 with eight wickets in hand in a low-scoring match that has been interrupted by torrential rain. While a draw still looks the most likely result, with more foul weather forecast on Saturday, India is slowly moving out of danger and possibly setting up an overnight declaration. Dravid, whose patient hundred in last week's first Test in Jamaica gave India a 1-0 series lead, was two runs away from a half-century when tea was taken. Laxman, who top-scored with 85 in the first innings, was unbeaten on 26.
