BRIDGETOWN: Darren Bravo and Shivnarine Chanderpaul shared an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 53 to help West Indies resist India's victory bid on the final day of the second cricket test at Kensington Oval Saturday. The home team, set 281 to win in 83 overs, went to tea at 108-3. Bravo was the more adventurous of the two left-handers, striking seven fours in an unbeaten 45 off 110 balls. Chanderpaul was typically obdurate in compiling 12 not out off 83 deliveries without a boundary. Fast bowler Ishant Sharma led the India attack with 2-28 while Praveen Kumar took 1-26. The tourists, who earlier declared their second innings at 269-6 midway through the morning session, began brightly as Sharma and Kumar claimed a wicket apiece before lunch. India added another wicket soon after resumption when Sharma (2-28) claimed opener Adrian Barath. Barath cracked three fours and a six in 27 off 66 balls before he edged to Suresh Raina at third slip. But the 22-year-old Bravo and the 132-test veteran Chanderpaul dulled the visitors for the next 111 minutes in the second session. West Indies needs another 173 runs in a minimum of 37 overs in the final session to pull off an improbable victory. Tendulkar returns for England Test series Sachin Tendulkar can clinch his 100th international century after being included in India's squad for the upcoming series against England. The 38-year-old batting great has scored 51 centuries in Test matches and 48 in one-day internationals. Tendulkar, who opted out of India's ongoing tour of the West Indies, returned to the 17-strong Test squad Saturday along with strike bowler Zaheer Khan, opener Gautam Gambhir and pace bowler Shantakumaran Sreesanth, who were all out with injuries. Middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh was also picked after recovering from a lung infection, while flamboyant opener Virender Sehwag was selected despite still recovering from a shoulder injury. Tendulkar had asked to rest during the West Indies tour after a hectic few months that included the World Cup and the Indian Premier League, in which he leads MumbaiIndians. Yuvraj and Gambhir (shoulder injury) had been ruled out of the West Indies tour while Zaheer (ankle) and Sreesanth (elbow) were replaced just before the series.
