ABHA: A heavy dust storm hit Abha, Khamis Mushayt and Ahad Rufaidah areas Wednesday reducing visibility to less than a kilometer. Authorities warned people not to expose themselves directly to the dust and called on them to secure their doors and windows. Children, asthmatic patients and those with respiratory disorders should use their medication and comply fully with medical instructions while the general public should use medical masks when walking or driving. In its weather report, the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) did not mention the dust storm in the southern highlands. Police patrol vehicles were seen at main road exits leading to Abha and Khamis Mushayt governorates. The General Directorate of Civil Defense has advised drivers to take extra care on the roads.
