MADINA: The brother of a sick man denied admittance to hospital due to a lack of beds took staff at the emergency department by surprise when he arrived in a pick-up with a brand new steel bed in the back. He reportedly called over staff at King Fahd Hospital in Madina and asked for “help getting the bed out the truck and into the hospital”. The man's sick brother has a tumor in the foot requiring surgery, and his bed-bearing brother pleaded with the hospital to “do the operation as soon as possible even on this new bed if need be”. A spokesman for Madina Health Affairs voiced the disapproval of the health authorities. “The Ministry of Health is very clear on this issue and it is not allowed,” said Abdu Razzaq Hafidh. “If the patient's condition requires urgent attention he can be transferred to a private hospital.”
