Saudi XI, Pak Crescent to clash in Div-I final

YANBU: Pak Crescent defeated Punjab XI and Saudi XI beat Jotun to qualify for the final in Prince Faisal Cup Cricket Tournament 2011, sponsored by Saudi Cricket Center (SCC) and organized by YACA here.
In the first semi final Pak Crescent beat Punjab XI by 80 runs. Batting first after winning the toss Pak Crescent scored a mammoth total of 224 runs with Arif scoring a blazing 69 and Nadeem scoring 33 runs. Iftekhar took 2 wickets for Punjab XI.
In reply Punjab XI were bowled out for 144 runs in 19.4 overs. Imran was the top scorer with 31 runs. Waseem claimed 4 wickets while Nadeem and Saeed took 2 wickets each. Waseem from Pak Crescent was declared Man of the Match.
In the second semi final Saudi XI beat Jotun by 57 runs. Put into bat Saudi XI scored 174 runs for the loss of 8 wickets with Afzal scoring a brilliant 63 and Ejaz scoring a quick fire 41. Tanveer claimed 4 wickets while Liaqat took 2 wickets for Jotun.
In reply Jotun scored 117 runs in 18.5 overs. Shahbaz and Shabbir scored 31 and 28 runs respectively. Salman bowled brilliantly to take 3 wickets in just 2.5 overs and Afzal claimed 2 wickets for Saudi XI.
Earlier in a league match Jotun defeated Punjab XI by 7 wickets. Batting first after winning the toss Punjab XI scored 160 runs with Asif playing a cameo innings of 46 and Imran scoring 39 runs. Shabbir claimed 3 wickets while Akbar, Kauser and Farooq took 2 wickets apiece.
In reply Jotun openers tore the Punjab XI bowling to shreds and won the match losing only 3 wickets with one over to spare. Shabbir scored 65 and was adjudged Man of the Match and Shahbaz scored 52 runs. In Division-II, Kabbani will take on Pak Green while Kashmir XI will clash with Young fighters in the semis.
Earlier Kabbani beat Kashmir XI in a thrilling encounter by 8 runs. Batting first after winning the toss Kabbani scored 205 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Shahzad scored 92 runs, Ehsan 36 and Imran 26. Javed Mirza took 2 wickets while Nasir Khizar and Zaheer claimed a wicket each for Kashmir XI .
In reply Kashmir XI started on a positive note but the late order collapse restricted it short of target by 8 runs. Javed Wani 43, Murad 34, Suhail 34 and Lal 34. Imran and Ehsan claimed 2 wickets each. Shahzad of Kabbani was adjudged Man of the Match.
In the other league match Yanbu Youth beat Young Fighters by 5 wickets. Put into bat Young Fighters were bowled out for 131 runs in 19.3 overs. Naveed was the top scorer with 27 runs while Awad took 4 wickets and Saeed took 2.
In reply Yanbu Youth reached their target in 17.5 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Saeed remained unbeaten on 38 while Hamad scored 34 runs. For Young Fighters Naveed took 2 wickets while Adnan, Ashfaq and Qasim took one wicket each. Saeed was adjudged Man of the Match.
In the last league match RC defeated Pak Green by 6 wickets. Put into bat Pak Green scored 148 runs in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Qadeer was the top scorer with 28 runs. Tauseef and Iqbal took 4 and 2 wickets respectively for RC.
In reply RC reached their target comfortably in 17.5 overs losing only 4 wickets. Man of the Match Rana played a brilliant knock of unbeaten 86 runs. Shakeel took 2 wickets for Pak Green.
